Panchito’s family was constantly moving from place to place, looking for a job. Panchito and his brother Roberto always went to work instead of going to school. They didn’t know that much English, because they didn’t stay in school all year. All the years that they were working in the fields, they worked under harsh weather conditions. All of Panchito’s brothers had to go to work, so they could help his family to survive. They worked in cotton fields in Corcoran, near Fresno, picking strawberries in Santa Maria, and harvesting grapes in the vineyards of Mr. Sullivan in Fresno, CA.
